Apertura is looking for an Electrical Engineer with strong experience in overhead transmission line design, PLS-CADD, and AutoCAD. This freelance role focuses on converting plan & profile drawings into accurate digital models, ensuring compliance with industry standards and supporting our U.S.-based engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Convert paper-based plan & profile drawings of overhead transmission lines into AutoCAD and PLS-CADD formats.

Capture alignment, structures, span lengths, conductor profiles, and clearances with a high degree of precision.

Apply client and utility CAD standards consistently across all drawings.

Coordinate with internal engineers to resolve missing, unclear, or incomplete input data.

Maintain organized, version-controlled drawing files and documentation.

Ensure all deliverables meet accuracy, quality, and schedule requirements.

Requirements:
- Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering (Civil or Mechanical also acceptable).
- 5+ years of experience on transmission line, utility, or power delivery projects.
- Proficiency in PLS-CADD.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of overhead transmission line design, including plan/profile drawings.
- High attention to detail and ability to work effectively with incomplete inputs.
- Availability to start quickly and commit to project timelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with GIS tools for routing or alignment.
- Familiarity with utility CAD standards.
- Experience digitizing or rehabilitating transmission line drawings.
- Exposure to 2D → 3D conversions, industrial CAD standards, or P&ID modeling (AutoCAD Plant 3D, Cadworx, etc.).
- Experience with asset tagging workflows (equipment, valves, instruments).
